How Chamillionaire Pays the Rent

Chamillionaire Not an Overnight Success

Hakeem Seriki born in 1979 in Washington, D.C to a Muslim Nigerian father and an African American Christian mother aims to prove that the south can produce good lyrics. You might know him as “Chamillionaire” (a combination of “chameleon” and “millionaire”) and he was first recorded on Fox 26 morning news talking about his first record aged 14.

He has also stated that he was recording mixtapes from 1998 and his break came in 1998 when he and Paul Wall met Michael “5000” Watts, the popular DJ from northern Houston. The two went from working promotions to becoming regulars on hip hop radio station KBXX-FM. He reached a summit in his career in 2007, he won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for his number-one single "Ridin'", a number-one hit in the United States for two weeks in 2006.

Success has definitely not come over night for Chamillionaire as he has worked many different jobs over the years including transporting blood and urine for a medical lab and stocking trucks. He was also a promising basketball player at High School. Now Chamillionaire looks like he has found his calling as a hip hop superstar with a steady flow.
